About the series

The IN-HOUSE Tournament | Friendly Series is a year-round competition circuit organized by East LA Jiu-Jitsu, a 501(c)3 nonprofit jiu-jitsu school serving the entire East Side of Los Angeles. Our mission is simple: make jiu-jitsu affordable and accessible for everyone.

Beyond our two academies, we run three after-school programs for at-risk youth and do extensive work through the regional center for individuals with developmental disabilities. Every competitor fee from the Friendly Series goes directly to fund these programs. When you compete, you give the gift of jiu-jitsu.

Four events across 2026. Spring, Summer, Fall and Finals. Team standings are tracked all season. Every event is run professionally with certified referees and Smoothcomp for accurate bracket management so the day runs organized and on time.

Gi Donations — Help a Kid Get on the Mat
We are always looking for gently used Gis, especially kids sizes, to give to our students who need them. Many of our youth athletes train in borrowed gear. Your donated Gi can make a real difference for a child who wants to learn jiu-jitsu but does not have the equipment. Drop off at either academy or reach out to coordinate.

Our mission
"Building Character Through Jiu-Jitsu"

The Friendly Series exists because we believe jiu-jitsu changes lives. But only if people can access it. Every tournament we run goes directly toward keeping the doors open at our nonprofit academies in East LA and Boyle Heights, where affordable and accessible training is not a marketing tagline, it is the entire point.

We organize these events so our students have a place to compete, grow, and represent their communities. We invite every academy that shares that same spirit to come compete alongside us.

Finals = double points. The season championship event awards 18 / 6 / 2 points to make the Finals the most impactful event of the year.
Tiebreak order — when teams are equal on points
1
Most gold medals — highest finishes come first
2
Most silver medals — second place finishes
3
Most bronze medals — third place finishes
4
Most wins — total match wins across all divisions. Used last so team size does not decide the ranking.

How the series works
